Company History

The company was formed in 1992 by Mike and Celia Hitchman. With Mike’s previous experience in the print industry and Celia’s previous experience in the banking industry, it was an ideal partnership to develop the company into the force it is today, Mike took care of the day to day running of the company working with the production and installation teams whilst Celia looked after the administration and accounts.

In 2002, following his apprenticeship with other sign companies and the completion of his NVQ in Signmaking, and separate design qualification their son Shaun joined the business to head up the marketing & sales team and work with his parents to expand and develop the business. In 2004 due to increased production we relocated to larger premises and continued to invest in new plant and technology. In 2010 we were one of the first firms in the UK to invest in flat bed large format digital print technology. In 2014 we added a second, similar machine as well as a flat bed cutter table and a UV top coater

Company Development

  • In 2017 we employed a regional manager to head up the expansion into the West Yorkshire and Lancashire regions, setting up distribution hubs in Pontefract and Rochdale.
  • Over the years Shaun has continually re-designed and updated the website culminating in the launch of our online shop in 2018 providing a large range of products.
  • Following the recent building extension in 2020 the premises have now been future-proofed in readiness for more investment in new plant and machine technology.

Company Progress

In the three decades we have been trading we have continued to invest and plan to continue doing so into the future. People and technology remains at the heart of the business. The website like our production has always been ahead of its time, when Mike called on an old friend in 1996 who at the time was working for a national swedish bank in the early days of the world wide web, he asked him to create us a simple company website – we could not believe the results it wielded, so much so that in 1998 when the company went limited we incorporated the .com as part of our official name, shortly after joining the business in 2002, Shaun decided to re-design and update the website seeing the rise in the internet and seeing possibly its true potential, he continued to do so with various updates over the years before launching our 3000+ product online shop in 2018. During the pandemic this was developed further and in 2023 the current website you see now was born. In 2012 alongside our main website, Shaun also helped develop and launch our online ordering portal for the estate agent, and although continued updates have been applied over the years we plan a major re-launch to this in 2024.

Company Future

Since the business was launched our client base has continiued to expaned through hardwork and reccommendation, we hope this continues for many years to come, and plan to work extremly hard to ensure it does in both the development of new products, introduction to new customers and remaining vigilant and aware of our existing customer needs and expectations.

We are blessed with an excellent workforce and with their combined knowledge and experience covering all aspects of print, signmaking, fabrication & engraving, we hope this can be a catalyst for the training of the next generation of staff. As a business we plan a continued investment into new plant and technology to enhance what we all ready provide and remain at the forefront of the industry in which we work, as members of FESPA for everything print, plus a tie up with the local college providing NVQ qualifications in signmaking and design, we feel confident of the future ahead for the business and our valued clients.

Following our recent extension in 2019 the premises has now been designed in preperation for the next plant and machine technology we wish to invest and plans have been drawn up for a further expansion to the main workshop and fabrication area. We now stock more display items then ever before and will continue to review and improve internal procedures if we see reason to do so.
